Trail running asks a lot of the planet. Every gel, every pole, every jacket, every pair of trainers are made, used, replaced, discarded. For The Trail is where we ask: does it have to? One piece of gear (project) at a time, we're finding out what "asking less" actually looks like.

Projects are where that question gets answered, gear and services, tested and researched from a runner's perspective, one category at a time. Fuelling was first with DirtBags, running poles, waterproofs, trainers, watches and more are underway.

Actions are how you join in, citizen science and small, low-effort ways to give something back to the trails you run on.

Letters are where we turn the question around, and ask it of the industry itself, the brands, events, and media who shape this sport.

Because some of this isn't on runners to fix.

What would it look like if trail running asked less of the natural world? Thats exactly what we're trying to find out!

Every few months, we ask a new question and launch a new project, we ask questions of issues in the trail and ultramarathon industry and what can actually be done that reduces trail running's environmental impact while making the sport more accessible, affordable and all whilst celebrating nature!

Join the CIRCLE - our community space where we share knowledge, learn about nature, and collaborate on the projects that make a difference.
